Cross Platform Development
It has been said in the past that a mobile solution is only as good as its desktop counterpart. These days, this statement cannot be more true. That's why, despite our name, Empower Mobility offers software development for desktop and other cross platform solutions in addition to our mobile services. Much of our abilities reside in Windows and Web technologies, but we're also branching into Mac desktop development as well. Just check out a few of the solutions we've crafted.
Gyr – Brake Job Software
For this project, eM was tasked with creating a software infrastructure that would become the backbone for an automobile brake servicing solution. Designed originally to run on Windows CE Embedded, the infrastructure supported communications between brake lathe hardware and supporting barcode scanners for VIN capture, data storage of upwards of 50k automobile records and a very complex, yet highly responsive user interface. As development progressed, the solution was then ported to run on Windows-based laptops. Highlights include:
- Efficient communication between hardware
- Fast, prioritized GUI for quick digestion of data
- Optimized data storage facility for fast recall
Easitrax and Easitrax Sync
Empower Mobility was first hired by MEI to port their Palm-based version of Easitrax to Windows Mobile. The port preserved existing business logic while enabling execution on Windows Mobile and the synchronization of its data using ActiveSync instead of Palm's HotSync technology. Over time ActiveSync's single connection synchronization model was replaced by Easitrax Sync, a new cross-platform solution designed and developed by eM to support multiple Easitrax for Windows Mobile connections to the same Easitrax backend. Easitrax highlights include:
- Determine the inventory of individual machines
- Ensure correct delivery of products
- Assign deliveries from desktop utility
- Manage warehouse inventory

Lung Cancer Symptom Scale – Quality of Life
eM was hired to update this cross-platform application designed to replace remedial clipboard and paper forms. Our founder was involved in its original design and implementation. This QoL tracker provides an easy way for patients to report how they are feeling and to help providers offer a proper level of care during trying times. Data is seamlessly synchronized with its desktop counterpart, which allows for patient tracking, survey review, and report generation.
